4th of July

Fourth of July is a federal holiday in USA commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Hence the name Independence Day. People all over the country celebrate it with fireworks, parades, family gatherings, concersts etc. And New York is no exception.

Here's the recipe on how to make such a cute flag cake . Great, yummy way to celebrate.

Also, here's Mariah's song titled 4th of July .

Ryan Gosling to be seen on the streets of New York

When you're in New York you never know who you're going to bump into. Now how would you like if you'd encounter Ryan Gosling down the street with his dog. Naahh, forget the dog! It's Ryan Gosling...

Ryan is actually canadian and he has lived in LA for some time but one or two years ago he decided to move to New York.
Everybody knows him and loves him for his role in "Notebook". I discovered Ryan in the movie called "All good things". After watching it I started my research and realized that I've seen him in "Murder by numbers" and "Fracture". I couldn't help myself but to catch up with all the movies he featured - including "Half Nelson" (for the role he got nominated for Oscar which is a big thing), "The believer", "Notebook" and of course "Blue Valentine" which i loove! Especially the scene at the Manhattan Bridge where he's trying to get Michele to tell him what's wrong with her.

Ice Cream time at Sundaes & Cones

I hear that new yorkers are real ice cream lovers. Is that right? I'm gonna find that out at Sundae & Cones. Apart from the classics like vanilla they offer fine ginger, red bean and mango scoops. Allegedly the black sesame is a real standout. I can't imagine how it can taste like. Can you?

Sundaes & Cones 95 E 10th St., 212-979-9398

Ps. Guess who recently visited the place?
One and only Katie Holmes.
Poor girl by the way...

NAS - the Don in a New York City

When somebody asks you to name one rapper representing NYC the answaer's got to be - NAS! Nasir (which is his real name) was born in Crown Heights, Brooklyn but later relocated with his family to the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City, Queens. And here, in the ghetto he started his career. As you can see on the cover of his first albums there's the picture of Nas superimposed over a backdrop of a gritty New York city block. It shows his connection with the city that molded him.

Today I'm posting the brand new video from Nas - The Don. It has a beautiful views of the New York skyline. Check it!
